Our Story

A Frame Can Change the Way a Room Feels.

BEGICAT creates sculptural solid-wood picture frames for homes with warmth, character and a point of view—objects made slowly, and made to be kept.

Where It Began

From Interior Spaces to Natural Forms

BEGICAT was founded by an interior stylist with more than ten years of experience creating thoughtful, character-filled spaces.

The idea began during a mountain hike. The flowing grain, warm tones and irregular forms of natural wood inspired her to imagine picture frames with a character of their own.

By bringing her design experience together with an appreciation for organic forms, she began creating frames intended to become part of the artwork—and the room around it.

Our Point of View

Designed as Part of the Room

We believe a picture frame should do more than hold an image. Its silhouette, grain and proportion can bring rhythm to a wall, soften a space and give a small artwork greater presence.

That is why BEGICAT frames are shaped with an interior stylist’s eye: sculptural enough to stand alone, yet quiet enough to live naturally with the objects around them.

The Materials

Wood with a Character of Its Own

Our frames are crafted from solid Sapele or Burmese teak. Sapele is valued for its rich reddish-brown tone and expressive interlocking grain. Burmese teak offers warm golden colour, natural durability and a beautifully tactile surface. Because real wood is never uniform, every frame carries its own variations in grain and tone.

The Making

Shaped Slowly by Hand

Each frame moves through a hands-on process of drawing, shaping, refining and finishing. Small decisions made by eye and hand give the finished piece its softness, balance and individuality.

01. Drawn by Eye

The form begins directly on the timber, allowing the design to respond to the character of the wood.

02. Shaped by Hand

The silhouette is carved gradually, preserving the subtle irregularity that makes every piece feel alive.

03. Refined Slowly

Edges and surfaces are carefully worked, sanded and finished until the frame feels smooth and considered.

Made Differently

Not Just Another Mass-Made Frame

Ordinary frames are designed to disappear. BEGICAT frames are designed to contribute—to introduce warmth, shape and material character to the room.

Their value comes from solid timber, hands-on workmanship and an original sculptural approach. Natural variation is not treated as a flaw; it is part of what makes each piece beautifully individual.

The Finished Piece

Made to Carry Meaning

A favourite photograph, a small artwork or a memory from a journey deserves a frame with its own sense of place. The final piece brings together image, timber and room as one composition.
